Why Aadhaar PAN linking Fail?
The three reasons stated below could be responsible for the failure to link Aadhaar card with the PAN card: –
- Name, gender or date of birth not matching on both cards
- Incorrect entering of your Aadhaar number
- Technical error from UIDAI
Therefore, the first thing that should be done is that you check if your Aadhaar number is entered correctly, after which you compare the details on both your Aadhaar card and PAN card if there is any error.
Using Aadhaar OTP
- It is common to have little difference in the name on the two cards
- If there is no significant difference in the name (gender and date of birth are the same) , you can continue with the name ( with the little difference on it) and authenticate it by using the Aadhaar OTP ( one time password) that will be sent to the mobile number or email you use to register.
And at times, where there is a vast difference in the name, date of birth and gender, you can still link the two cards; all you have to do is to change the details on one of the two cards to match the other card.

Changing the name in Aadhaar using a scanned copy of PAN card:
- It is always that easy to make changes to details in PAN or Aadhaar data
- This made the IT department to provide a more accessible option to correct the mismatch in name while linking Aadhaar and PAN.
- You have to log in to Aadhaar website and request a change of name. You also have to upload a scanned copy of your PAN card.
- But this will only work for those whose number with UIDAI is functioning well.
So, with any of the methods mentioned above, you can link your Aadahaar card with your PAN card. If the two cards are not linked together, your PAN card will be blocked. This is done by the government to prevent people from having more than one PAN card to evade tax.
