Introduced in January 2009, Aadhaar card is a single identification document against all the proof documents like driver’s license, ration card, PAN card etc. It collects all your basic information as well as biometric information. A unique 12 digit code is generated for every Aadhaar card owner. This code can be used for many applications.

Earlier, people had to wait in long queue’s to enroll for Aadhaar card. But with today’s technology, you can use e-Aadhaar to book appointments for Aadhaar card online. Check Aadhaar card status online

Use the following steps to check the status online.

  1. Go to UIDAI website.
  2. On the home page, under the column of online services –> Aadhaar enrolment, click on ‘Check Aadhaar Status’.
  3. You have to then enter your enrolment ID, date stamp, and security code. This enrollment ID has a format like (1234/12345/12345) and date and time format is (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss)
  4. Click on “Check Status” button at the bottom of the page.

(You can see your 14 digit enrollment number and the date and time on the acknowledgement slip that you get after you submit your application at the Aadhaar center.)

How to check Aadhaar status without the acknowledgement details?

Use the following steps to check the Aadhaar status.

  1. Go to UIDAI website.
  2. On the homepage, under the column of online service –> Aadhaar enrolment, click on ‘Retrieve lost UID/EID’.
  3. On the new page, enter your full name as you registered along with the email ID, mobile number, and security code.
  4. You will then receive an OTP on your registered number or email ID. Enter this OTP in the given column and click on ‘Verify OTP’.
  5. You will receive your EID and then, using this, you can check your Aadhaar status as given in the above section. You can check your Aadhaar status using SMS. Just send an SMS to 51969 and type “UID STATUS <14 digit enrolment number>” and click send again. You will receive a message that will inform you about your current Aadhaar card status.

How can you download Aadhaar card online?

Online Aadhaar card, also called e-Aadhaar, is a digitally signed document. You can use this anywhere. After your Aadhaar card is ready, you can download it online and take a printout. You do not need to wait for the hard copy to be delivered to your house.

Follow these steps to download your e-Aadhaar card-

  1. Go to UIDAI website.
  2. On the homepage, under the column of online service –> Aadhaar enrolment, click on ‘Download Aadhaar’.
  3. You then need to fill in all the necessary details correctly.
  4. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP and click on submit.
  5. You can then click on validate and download.

Your e-Aadhaar card will be downloaded on your computer.
