It has now been made compulsory by the government that the Aadhaar card can be linked to the PAN card when filling the tax income returns. You can get more information on how to connect the Aadhaar with PAN on the Income Tax department here.

A lot of people are confronted with various problems when trying to link the two cards together. This article will provide solutions to the issues.

Why Aadhaar PAN linking Fail?

The three reasons stated below could be responsible for the failure to link Aadhaar card with the PAN card: –

  1. Name, gender or date of birth not matching on both cards
  2. Incorrect entering of your Aadhaar number
  3. Technical error from UIDAI

Therefore, the first thing that should be done is that you check if your Aadhaar number is entered correctly, after which you compare the details on both your Aadhaar card and PAN card if there is any error.

USING Aadhaar OTP

  1. It is common to have little difference in the name on the two cards
  2. If there is no significant difference in the name (gender and date of birth are the same) , you can continue with the name ( with the little difference on it) and authenticate it by using the Aadhaar OTP ( one time password) that will be sent to the mobile number or email you use to register.

And at times, where there is a vast difference in the name, date of birth and gender, you can still link the two cards; all you have to do is to change the details on one of the two cards to match the other card.
